A police operation is underway in the area of Exarcheia. According to sources the search is related to drug smuggling.

A meeting on the refugee crisis has been called at this hour at the Maximos mansion, chaired by the Prime Minister. The meeting will be attended by the Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for promoting the European Way of Life, Margaritis Schinas and the Commissioner of Internal Affairs, Ylva Johansson.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Wednesday he discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “all the issues” that have recently increased tensions between the two countries during a meeting on the sidelines of NATO’s Summit in London.

Mitsotakis told Erdogan that the Turkey-Libya deal they signed last week to delimitate maritime borders is legally void and complicates relations in a sensitive region.

He also instructed Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias to convene Greece’s cross-party foreign policy council to inform political leaders of the opposition.

Greece gained a double benefit from yesterday’s Eurogroup meeting in Brussels, with the approval of disbursement of 767 million euros from Greek bonds’ gains held by European Central Bank and national central banks and with a decision to begin technical preparations on a possible use of this money for investment programs in Greece.

In a landmark court ruling, Greece’s top administrative court said that the country’s Single Social Security Entity (EFKA) is obliged to cover the entirety of the expenses paid in a private clinic in case of an emergency and when there is no availability in a state-run hospital.

A police officer was injured during clashes last night at Exarchia Square, in the junction of Spirou Trikoupi and Tositsa streets. A group of around 20 hooded persons threw molotov coctail bombs against police, who in response used tear gas.
