Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will announce steps to revive the economy in a televised address this afternoon. These steps will be mainly focused on tourism but will also concern other sectors affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The measures, both long-term and seasonal for the summer months, will be based on two pillars: fiscal interventions of 7 billion euros and liquidity of 10 billion euros.

According to sources, these measures will include a reduction in VAT on tourist packages, transport and other affected areas of the tourist industry, as well as subsidizing labor.

The European Commission will present a pandemic recovery plan next week that will exceed 1 trillion euros in a mix of grants and loans, Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis said on Tuesday.

The board of Greece’s Central Archaeological Council (KAS), the country’s top advisory body on the protection of antiquities, approved unanimously on Tuesday a proposal by the Environment Ministry to set the maximum height for buildings in the vicinity of the Acropolis Hill at 21 meters.

Decisions regarding the re-start of elementary school and kindergartens is expected by next Monday.
