Greek Finance Minister Christos Staikouras on Wednesday presented a new package of 15 policies to be implemented from June until October, in the framework of the third phase of a plan for economic recovery.

As announced earlier by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in a televised address, the new package includes, among others, a reduction of VAT on transport, coffee and beverages, tourist packages and cinemas until October 31.

Tourists will be allowed to enter Greece without taking a coronavirus test or remaining in quarantine when international flights restart on July 1, but health officials will conduct spot tests when required, Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis said on Wednesday.

Flights will initially only land in Athens’ International Airport when services resume on June 15 but will eventually extend to all the airports as of July 1.
The first tourists will be from countries where epidemiological data is encouraging and mentioned the Balkans (Bulgaria) and countries in northern Europe, such as Germany.

The Ministry of Health announced another 10 new coronavirus cases, among them a 8 month old baby, being hospitalized at “Agia Sofia” children’s hospital .
Fatalities since the beginning of the outbreak stand at 167.

State hospital doctors are holding a work freeze from 11am to 3 pm and will gather outside the Ministry of Health on Aristotelous street.

A 5.9 tremor was recorded at 2.43 a.m. about 238 kilometers southwest of the coast of Pylos, in region of Messinia, at a depth of just 10 kilometers. No damages or injuries have been reported so far.

Local showers and occasional thunderstorms are expected tonight. The temperature will reach a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius.
