The arts are an integral part of the cultural identity of Athens and part of the daily life of its inhabitants.
The Municipal Authority follows a new strategy that envisages a series of actions, so that the capital highlights on a daily basis not only the heritage of its past, but also of today. In this context, the Municipality of Athens and the Athens Culture Net of the Municipality support the campaign of the company Interbus SA entitled "Art on the road, let us visit the museums", through which the cultural treasures hosted in the museums of our city are highlighted.
The exterior surfaces of city buses are "dressed" with depictions of top works of art, inviting everyone to visit places and institutions of the city that highlight all aspects of Arts and Culture. The backs of 30 city buses that cross the main thoroughfares of the basin, carrying thousands of passengers daily, have been turned into living canvases to house unique archeological finds and exquisite works of art.
These are great exhibits that occupy a prominent place in five of the most remarkable museums of Athens - National Archaeological Museum, Benaki Museum, Museum of Cycladic Art, Museum of Vassilis & Elizas Goulandris, Municipal Gallery of the Municipality of Athens - and were the creative "raw material" to "Dress up" this special action and make full use of the dynamics of the projection of multiple cultural treasures in the moving advertising media.
The bilingual campaign (Greek and English) takes full advantage of the animation projection, such as panoramic visibility and large surfaces, which, combined with constant mobility and wide geographical coverage, ensure the creation of an indelible image in public consciousness.
Throughout the pandemic, the Municipality of Athens actively supported culture and artists. Implementing the three-year program for culture, new places for culture were activated, especially in the neighborhoods outside the center, while the artists were provided with housing for another summer.
The need to support and promote the culture that suffered so much because of the pandemic was immediate. This campaign is another link in the solidarity chain to support culture and artists. It was created with the aim of encouraging citizens and visitors of the city to visit the museums of Athens again.
The Athens Culture Net of the Municipality of Athens, utilizing its networking with cultural institutions and organizations of the city, private and public, undertook the coordination and communication for the implementation of the campaign in collaboration with Interbus.
