Η 95η τελετή απονομής των Όσκαρ θα πραγματοποιηθεί σήμερα, Κυριακή 12 Μαρτίου στο Dolby Theatre στο Λος Άντζελες.
Η τελετή έχει οριστεί να ξεκινήσει στις 20:00 (02:00 ξημερώματα Δευτέρας ώρα Ελλάδας).
Ο Jimmy Kimmel θα παρουσιάσει για τρίτη φορά τα Όσκαρ. Σε μια διαφήμιση για το φετινό σόου σε στυλ «Top Gun: Maverick», ο Kimmel υποστήριξε ότι είναι το κατάλληλο άτομο για τη δουλειά, σημειώνοντας ότι δεν μπορεί να δεχτεί χαστούκι -σε μια αναφορά στο περσινό επεισόδιο μεταξύ των Will Smith και Chris Rock.

Η Ακαδημία έχει διαβεβαιώσει ότι οι νικητές όλων των κατηγοριών θα ανακοινωθούν ζωντανά στην τελετή (πέρυσι, ορισμένες κατηγορίες μαγνητοσκοπήθηκαν σε ένα pre-show, κάτι που προκάλεσε αντιδράσεις). Επίσης στα μουσικά σόου της βραδιάς θα πρωταγωνιστήσουν η Rihanna που θα ερμηνεύσει το «Lift Me Up» από το «Black Panther: Wakanda Forever» και η Kala Bhairava με το «Naatu Naatu» από το «RRR».
Οι 10 υποψηφιότητες που διαγωνίζονται για το Όσκαρ καλύτερης ταινίας είναι: «All Quiet on the Western Front», «Avatar: The Way of Water», «The Banshees of Inisherin», «Elvis», «Everything Everywhere All At Once», «The Fabelmans», «Tár», «Top Gun: Maverick», «Triangle of Sadness», «Women Talking».
Η επιτυχία επιστημονικής φαντασίας των Daniel Kwan και Daniel Scheinert «Everything Everywhere All at Once» έχει 11 υποψηφιότητες. Κοντά, όμως, είναι η σκοτεινή κωμωδία «The Banshees of Inisherin», με εννέα, όσες και η ταινία του Netflix για τον Α’ Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο «All Quiet on the Western Front». Η Michelle Yeoh («Everything Everywhere All At Once») μπορεί να έχει ένα μικρό προβάδισμα απέναντι στην Cate Blanchett («Tár») για το βραβείο Α’ Γυναικείου Ρόλου.
Η συζήτηση φέτος περιστράφηκε γύρω από την απροσδόκητη υποψηφιότητα της Andrea Riseborough για Α’ Γυναικείο Ρόλο. Η Riseborough προτάθηκε για το δράμα του Τέξας «To Leslie». Όταν δύο άλλες υποψήφιες για την ίδια κατηγορία απορρίφθηκαν -η Danielle Deadwyler («Till») και η Viola Davis («Woman King»)- ορισμένοι το είδαν ως αντανάκλαση της φυλετικής προκατάληψης στη βιομηχανία του κινηματογράφου.
